Please reach us at ashley@sohhaw.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, therapy will be different depending on the individual. In general, you can expect to discuss the current events happening in your life, your personal history relevant to your issue, and report progress (or any new insights gained) from the previous therapy session. Depending on your specific needs, therapy can be short-term, for a specific issue, or longer-term, to deal with more difficult patterns or your desire for more personal development. Either way, it is most common to schedule regular sessions with your therapist (usually weekly).
We will begin with a free consultation. I'll describe how I work and you'll tell me what you are looking for in a therapist. If we agree it's a fit we'll set up an online appointment.
We do not prescribe any medications as therapists and social workers. Psychotropic medication is prescribed by Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, the designations are MD and ARNP respectively. We are familiar with medications but are not able to give guidance or tell another practitioner what to prescribe to you. We often communicate with medication prescribers if you request us to do so in order to help them better help you.
We do accept insurance. Our current forms of acceptable insurance include, BlueCross and BlueShield, Cigna and Evernorth, Humana, Optum, UnitedHealthcare UHC | UBH.
Fees are due at the time of service. Our clients keep a credit card in the portal that is automatically charged every time they have a session.
You may also be able to use your HSA/FSA account or ask your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.
Basically, whatever you say in therapy, stays in therapy.? However, there are times when a therapist is legally obligated to break confidentiality:
At SOHHAW, we understand things happen and you may not be able to make your scheduled appointment. However, we do prefer 48 hour notice if able to avoid incurring late/ no show fees. 24 hour notice is mandatory for cancelling/rescheduling a scheduled session. Should notice not be given to therapist via email or text, full cancellation fee will be billed. If client provides same day notice, partial cancellation fee will be billed. You can ask your therapist for these rates at any time. Rates can be waived depending on the circumstance.
